Upon review, the Assignee has reportedly found that Gnanavel Raja still owes ten crore and 35 lakh rupees to the insolvent estate. This prompted the Assignee to file a petition in 2016, seeking a directive for repayment along with interest at eighteen percent per year from 2013. The matter has remained pending and has now resurfaced at a critical moment for Vaa Vaathiyaar.          The Court has currently placed a stay on the release of the film until December 5, with the next hearing scheduled for December 8.
